#29 - Sugar
I liked donuts a lot more when I was a kid. I’m sure when I really grew out of donuts… somewhere in my 20’s I think. I occasionally enjoy a kruller from dunkin donuts, but I don’t think I have ever purchased one myself. 99% of all the times I have had dunkin donuts was when I had an office job and someone brought in a few dozen to share. The same with krispy kreme. Having said all of this I can eat about 20 entemann’s donut holes in one sitting.

This truly is a word to the wise!
May 18th, 2006 at 6:04 pm
I found this one out the hard way.
January 4th, 2007 at 9:16 pm
Haha, I’m from Canada, where donut shops (Tim Horton’s!) outnumber (and in some cases serve the purpose of) churches! This is a truly profound observation, especially coming from the U.S.! And oh so painfully true :).
January 4th, 2007 at 9:22 pm
Hahaha, well unfortunately for me this was based on personal experience.
January 5th, 2007 at 10:39 pm
yes, and if you have a dry throat, it can be really painful… in my opinion powdered ones arent worth it (except the apple cinnamon…truly a blessing from [insert deity of choice here])
January 8th, 2007 at 11:34 am
Woot for tim horton’s Timbits! Man, the coffee isn’t even all that good in Tim Horton’s, everyone just goes there for the donuts. and Timbits (donut holes). And…well, the stuff that isn’t coffee.
January 8th, 2007 at 1:40 pm
I hope the Tim Horton’s around all of you are better than the one that was (briefly) open in my area - it was the reverse of all your comments - the coffee was great and the doughnuts weren’t. Now I wanna find one and try it again!
January 9th, 2007 at 10:46 pm
That happened to me before. XD
January 13th, 2007 at 8:21 am
this has happened to me before….except i also got the donut.
bad to eat powdered donuts laying on your back while playing games.
January 13th, 2007 at 3:30 pm
Heh. I think i’ve done that several times.
DARN YOU POWDERED SUGAR! Why must you betray me so?
January 20th, 2007 at 5:28 am
Tried and True.
January 21st, 2007 at 7:27 am
O.o… so it happened to you?! That gotta hurt… Ever inhaled while biting a Doughnut with nuts? :D…
January 25th, 2007 at 9:43 pm
I hate that >.
January 30th, 2007 at 1:54 pm
I once had a scene in a play where my character had to snort cocaine. I made up (each night) my own packets of finely-ground confectioner’s sugar, rather than trust a Prop Manager to prepare “God-Only-Knows-What” in those packets. NOT the sort of role I’d look forward to repeating anytime soon…
January 31st, 2007 at 11:42 pm
It’s not just dough nuts! Back when I was in high school, I was eating french fries and someone made me laugh real hard and when I sucked air in, the french fry decided to follow the air.

I’m eager to learn the first 22 breakfast tips.
February 22nd, 2007 at 6:26 pm
i did something similar, with turkish delight. I then told my cousin ‘dont breath in while you put it in your mouth’. he replied, ‘i know how to eat turkish delight, Dan’
February 23rd, 2007 at 8:07 pm
AND CHURROS, TOO! don’t breath period wth them! in 1 sitting, my friend choked on powder, then powdered himself thrice, and the person across from him’s face!
April 4th, 2007 at 7:10 pm
Homer Simpson: “Mmmm….donut….”
April 10th, 2007 at 10:23 pm
I hate krullers. o.O …And why’d joo bring in a homer simpson quote?
April 15th, 2007 at 5:01 pm
Secularist: I’m eager to learn the first 22 breakfast tips.
Same here. Although I have an idea what a few might be like.
1: Don’t test eggs before you cook them like you taste cookie dough.
2: Even if you’re a serial killer, don’t be a cereal killer.
3: Slingshots and breakfast don’t mix (inspired by a future comic)…
April 22nd, 2007 at 1:07 pm
What is Turkish Delight…?
(Please excuse my ignorance)
April 28th, 2007 at 7:51 am
If i knew i would tell you. All this talk of pastry stuffs is making me hungry… AND WE DON’T HAVE ANY CHURROS!
April 29th, 2007 at 6:44 pm
Churro?
I’ve never had a churro. I want one. T_T
As to why I brought in a homer quote?
ITS A DONUT, MAN!
Donuts are the universal symbol of Homer.
If it were Conker, you would press B while on the donut and Homer would come running up and slap you to take it away from you.
May 10th, 2007 at 2:11 pm
And truffles. My little brother makes truffles that are 30x more deadly then powdered donuts
May 15th, 2007 at 11:44 pm
This happened to me shortly after the first Krispy Kreme store opened here in Australia.
I had purchased a dozen doughnuts on the way to work, and , well, lets just say I was very lucky to avoid a pile up on the motorway after trying to eat a doughnut coveredin powered cinamon!!
D!
May 23rd, 2007 at 10:56 am
…Whats a Churro?
May 23rd, 2007 at 6:14 pm
This is why my favorites are Boston Cream donuts. Except the cream oozes out the opposite side from where you’re biting. It gets all over my hand… But then I get to creep people out by licking it off nice and slow, with my eyes closed and quiet semi-moaning noises. Yes, I’m a weirdo. But the looks on people’s faces are priceless!
May 26th, 2007 at 12:57 am
Mint Sharpie, if I didnt know better, I’d say you were my long lost twin.
May 29th, 2007 at 10:24 pm
I like jelly donuts, despite the fact that they tend to explode when you bite them. The stuff splatters pretty hard if you’re hungry.
June 4th, 2007 at 1:24 pm
yum yum, sugar coated death!! HALF OFF
June 6th, 2007 at 3:36 am
Dear Mint:
I feel a strange resonance with your donut practices. But it does bring up a practical question - if your eyes are shut, how are you enjoying their “priceless expressions?” (Hidden pinhole web cams?)
Grin.
June 6th, 2007 at 11:36 pm
This reminds me of when I snorted a pixie stick, it hurt like hell but was worth it, I got to eat the other half of the pixie stick
June 9th, 2007 at 1:04 am
Nova- a churro is like a long, skinny donut-like thing, with cinnamin-sugar coating…did somebody mention TRUFFLES?!?!? *smashes out office window and dashes to nearest place with truffles*
June 27th, 2007 at 3:09 pm
I live in Costa Rica, and down here the churros are filled with milk caramel (they call it dulce de leche). As for inhaling powdered sugar, what a rush!
June 29th, 2007 at 12:34 pm
I actually kynda enjoy inhaling powdered sugar…
Does that make me odd?
July 8th, 2007 at 4:26 pm
*wearing CHairface Chipendale outfit* Odd?
No, not odd at all…
July 15th, 2007 at 11:31 pm
I watched my friend snort a crushed up Tic Tac once…
You could hear him scream halfway across the school…
Then he asked for another one.
July 30th, 2007 at 11:53 pm
When I was in high school, there was a viola player in my orchestra (I played violin like all good Koreans, hence “my” orchestra) who fit an entire powdered doughnut in his mouth all at once. Unfortunately, he did it in one movement and found breathing to be difficult. I may not remember how to do mordents, but I definitely remember the look on his face.
August 7th, 2007 at 1:00 pm
Don’t inhale with half a twincicle in you mouth. It’s a good thing they melt quickly. Also, I too have breathed in powdered sugar various times.
August 20th, 2007 at 6:17 pm
Heehee.. People snort weird things.
I think my friend Spoon (can’t remember his real name.. if I ever knew it) tops everybody though. Included in his list of substances snorted is raw mince (ground beef), cayen pepper, white pepper, powdered chillis, wasabi, salt, sugar, KFC fry seasoning, and sweet thai chilli sauce..
And those are the ones I know about.
September 6th, 2007 at 7:29 pm
I gag on Pixy Sticks and very salty spaghetti. Then again, I gag on nearly everything.
September 17th, 2007 at 3:43 am
Eating must be hard for you. AND I CAN’T FIND A PLACE WITH TRUFFLES!!

*Giggling like an idiot* XDDD That sounds like something that I did back at my old school.. Only I snorted chocolate milk. Then when I went to laugh again it came out my nose and everything smelled like chocolate for the rest of the day. x-x;;
December 23rd, 2007 at 4:19 pm
And the other 22?
December 28th, 2007 at 9:59 pm
I have one for the snorting odd things. Me and some of the guys were sitting at the top of the bleachers during gym, and I found a packet of white tea powder underneath one, so one by one, the guys passed it around, and they would snort it, until Blake got it, and got alot of it in his nose…he started to flail and scream…it was funny. He’s fine now…I think.
I have inhaled powdered sugar…and….various other things (lego, jawbreaker(small one)) ext, ext.
January 4th, 2008 at 5:45 am
wait…..if you cant inhale when eating a doughnut, how are you supposed to get oxygen to your brain and blood? donughts kill you either way!
January 14th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
oof, that’s never fun. Not only did I breathe it in tho, I also got it in my eyes. Powdered Sugar stings, man! T-T
January 26th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
Ugh. The only thing worse than that is breathing out while doing it. You essentially get a face full either way, but my way happens to ruin whatever furniture you’re currently near.
February 11th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
Oh, how I wish I had known this sooner.
March 18th, 2008 at 11:04 am
Dunkin Donuts Krulers are my fave
that and a medium toasted almond coffee
March 18th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
Man, I do this all the time, except with cheetos. It is a horrible experience.
April 15th, 2008 at 5:29 am
Oh God. Been there, done that.
Major LOL.
June 16th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
I go to Tim’s most times just to get out of the house; I’ll buy a Timbit so as they’ll let me stay.
July 19th, 2008 at 10:23 am
Tim Horton’s is so awesome. The coffee is addictive and the crullers are so good. I think since us Canadians started exporting Timmy Ho’s to the U.S. we decided to give them the crap stuff. American Tim’s is not the same as Canadian Tim’s. Sorry guys.
That being said, I do love the heart attack inducing effects of a good Krispy Kreme chocolate, caramel, walnut crunch. I eat one and wait for my left arm to start tingling. That’s how you know it’s working
August 25th, 2008 at 3:01 pm
Haha! This reminds me of Psycho!
