You can label them using Sharpie marker on clear packing tape, so the labels aren't necessarily permanent. Sterilite makes clear ones so you can see what's inside, even! I made a rule: If the tape doesn't come off of the box by the next move, it gets thrown out. If it doesn't get emptied by the move after that, it gets thrown out.
