The auto reheat cycle uses humidity and a few other things to know when to stop. Unfortunately, fries, not a lot of moisture in those. The smoke alarm reminded me it was there. Not only was the water boiled out, but the extremely cheap pot has warped, and the spaghetti was melded into the metal. The EXACT same thing happened to me, except it was on my birthday (I was sick, which was bad, but it made me skip an oral presentation I had to do, so I guess it wasn't too bad), and that my mom didn't call me; I woke up to that by myself... She got a very nasty surprise when she got home, as the air was still gray because of the smoke, and it smelled awful for the next three days or so... Memories... HA!
