#328 - Chair
It’s funny looking back at old family photos. Did people really think that wallpaper looked good? Style never seems hilarious when it is happening… at least not to the people that are wearing it or living in it. Luckily we don’t seem to be coming to our senses. We are all doomed to repeat the pattern of ridiculousness so that the next generation can be sufficiently entertained.

That’s great! I love his suit.
September 6th, 2007 at 12:02 am
There, SleepingOrange. Is that too mundane for you?
September 6th, 2007 at 12:07 am
That…is genius. That is hilarious. Biff’s no Micheal J. Fox, but that there is absolutely hilarious. That’s almost as great as the Electric Tennisball.
September 6th, 2007 at 12:07 am
Too bad he doesn’t have a fro.
September 6th, 2007 at 12:08 am
No, but it does raise an interesting question: Why does Biff have so many chairs that just face the wall?
September 6th, 2007 at 12:12 am
I like the suit, I’d totally wear it,
if the collar wasn’t so big.
September 6th, 2007 at 12:12 am
Fantastic. In regards to the blog, i do not know how we will fare in rhetrospect when looking back on baggy pants, goatees, and the eponymous use of the word ‘ass’. Our kids may have a field day on us.
September 6th, 2007 at 12:14 am
Biff’s place had a remodel when he got it,
Allowing him to confound modern physics *nod*
September 6th, 2007 at 12:35 am
That happened to me once…December 31st, 1972.
Kidding…I was born in ‘85.
September 6th, 2007 at 1:51 am
Normally, this would’ve made me laugh. However, I believe it was in my Aunt Judy’s college class when a guy leaned his chair back, fell, cracked his skull, and died.
Tragedy aside, that suit is pretty snazzy.
September 6th, 2007 at 3:23 am
LOL, I like how random this is.
What I love most about the current emo fashion is that every one can laugh at it (’cept the emo kids, they just cry).
So we and our yet to be children can enjoy it.

I always dream of going back in time…to 1994. why? I missed out on all the famous video games. I plan on standing outside EB Games, waving around my Tomb Raider Anniversary case and telling people of the future. a future where Microsoft had a GUI and Nintendo cashes in on motion sensing.
September 6th, 2007 at 3:39 am
This has happened to me.

Yeah, it’s just the emo fashion that’s stupid… because pregnant-looking tops and bug-eyed sunglasses aren’t ridiculous at all.
September 6th, 2007 at 4:51 am
How many times has Biff fell off a chair?
Termites, Carbonated Beverage, did I missed something?
September 6th, 2007 at 6:07 am
Is the joke that Biff’s clothing changed as he went back in time, or is this a new look?
September 6th, 2007 at 6:28 am
Wonderful work, always enjoy reading the new Biff comics, but this one left me wondering. That suit, and the year you chose, you wouldn’t happen to be a fan of British Police Drama?
September 6th, 2007 at 7:01 am
/\ His clothing changed as he fell, although I’m almost afraid to see if he’d have an afro. Or worse, if just his eyebrows had an afro look O_o

I’ve developed the ability to close my eyes and visit previous eras of my life, without tipping over backwards, by listening for my mother’s voice.
September 6th, 2007 at 8:24 am
Where can i get one of those?!
September 6th, 2007 at 10:07 am
Reminds me of this old picture I saw of my dad with bell-bottoms and and afro. Hilarious!
September 6th, 2007 at 10:19 am
I look like Shaggy from Scooby Doo no matter WHAT year it is.
September 6th, 2007 at 10:22 am
Great!
@RFPT: Windows had a GUI in 1994. OK it was crappy and we hated it, but still… ah the good old DOS times
September 6th, 2007 at 11:32 am
I was just talking to some freinds the other day about styles we had when we were in school. Back in 1988 - 89 we were all wearing Z. Cavarrici (sp?) jeans and we would peg our pants and wear a “Champion” sweatshirt.
could you imagine a kid going to high school wearing his pants pegged today? he’d be killed!
It looked good back in the day though….
September 6th, 2007 at 11:44 am
Fantastic. No other word for it.
September 6th, 2007 at 11:48 am
Biff looks stylin’ here! XD
Oh man, we had that wall paneling at one house I lived in. I hated it! And ants would always somehow find a way in under it. Maybe it wasn’t properly attached to the wall and they just moved around behind it? @_x;
September 6th, 2007 at 12:33 pm
Is this a Life On Mars joke, because Biff is dressed like Sam Tyler? Or am I nuts, since no one else seems to get it?
September 6th, 2007 at 12:40 pm
Woah, Biff looks good like that!
September 6th, 2007 at 1:29 pm
@ Elle, I have to say that ghetto fab is at LEAST as bad as emo, so you’re not alone here. I went shopping with my cousin and his girlfriend, and she made me try on some of those clothes…. I was like “Yeah…. These are nice….” *runs to change*
September 6th, 2007 at 2:43 pm
A life on mars joke..
Brilliant!!! =D
September 6th, 2007 at 2:51 pm
Sweet! Who doesn’t want a random trip to the 70’s
September 6th, 2007 at 2:59 pm
Oh man,smexy Biff.
I believe I`m seen that chair before.
I`m 33 years older now,ya know.
September 6th, 2007 at 5:11 pm
I thought this was a Life on Mars reference too, which just added to the fun.
September 6th, 2007 at 5:47 pm
Instead of laces, those boots should have zippers up the insides. And pointy toes.
September 6th, 2007 at 6:25 pm
style does seem hilarious at the time: consider chavs
September 6th, 2007 at 7:10 pm
wy was he in a suite facing a wall in a fancy chair
September 6th, 2007 at 8:10 pm
Absolute genius. One of the best strips ever.
September 6th, 2007 at 10:43 pm
Actually…Biff looks rather spiffy in that get-up.
September 6th, 2007 at 11:34 pm
I never fell out of a chair, but I have been caught wear baggy pants, a belly shirt and thong underwear (complete with the lower back tattoo). Someone will one day find the photo and laugh at me and if I’m alive, I’ll smack them upside the head.
September 7th, 2007 at 10:39 am
Yay! my first post! Mr. Hallbeck, I love your work!
That being said, forgive my teenage ignorance, but would Bif’s green Chuck Taylors still have been fashionable back in ‘73?
September 7th, 2007 at 10:45 am
This image seems familiar to me. I feel like I’ve seen it before, in a movie or TV show or something but I have zero recollection as to where. It may just be proof that I should read more books.
The more important question is, why is there a chair and no table? Why was a chair all by itself facing a wall? Was Biff naughty? Did he have to go sit in timeout?
September 8th, 2007 at 4:43 am
hahahahaha. He’d have hamsters for eyebrows.
September 8th, 2007 at 9:10 pm
Nice suit!
September 19th, 2007 at 11:58 am
Its not just the clothes (though those are dead-on), but the wallpaper (panelling?) and the color of the floor, too. The color schemes of ‘73 come leaping back to mind.
Ouch.
Wish they hadn’t.
November 6th, 2007 at 12:36 pm
Biff turned into the master!
November 17th, 2007 at 1:40 pm
HEE!!! The Master! I love Doctor Who…
I also love Life On Mars…
Biff Looks Rawkin!
January 3rd, 2008 at 6:50 pm
LOVE DA SUIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!….but not that much…
May 6th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
heh…he does look like the Master….:-p
June 20th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
No, he’d need black gloves to be the Master.
…So, anyone wanna take bets on when and how that bad guy will come back to life?
I’ve never fallen backwards out of a chair, but on my first day of kindergarten I leaned back (on the ground) and hit my head on either a chair leg or a table leg. Had to get three stitches.
July 2nd, 2008 at 9:35 pm
that would be awesome!

Biff actually looks pretty good in that suit.
