I’m usually scared of spiders being in my shoe. Most of the indoor spiders around here are fairly harmless and I guess they would just get squished by my foot and I would never know they were there. Not too long ago my wife was visiting her family in Michigan. Her brother was getting ready to leave for work when his foot encountered some sort of obstruction in his shoe. He turned it over and found that there was a little brown bat hiding out in his shoe. Have you ever found something in your shoes that you didn’t expect to be there?

a cockroach
a big one, gross
Nothing in my shoes, but my mom once put on her shoe and felt a sharp pain. She took it off and found a flattened cockroach. The noise she made was very interesting.
The worst thing I ever found in my boot got in there after my foot was already in it. I managed to get a piece of base board attached to the bottom of my boot. Problem was the nail that was attaching it to my boot happened to go through my entire foot (and almost out the top of my boot).
Someone said they found a kitten in their shoe – I left my shoes off at the park by my house, so I could go wade in the fountain, and when I came back their was a lost baby kitten snuggled inside my knee-high socks. <3 We couldn’t keep him, so my best friend took him. \
I found earwigs and ticks in my shoes, and once I didn’t check them before placing them on and when I took them off, like 5 ticks were attached to my feet. Huge and red D:
I also got a leach in my bathing suit once.
Never had anything in my shoe. but had a bee in my long sleeve shirt (while I was wearing it), needless to say, I got stung.
A year after that, a lizard crawled into my school uniform (also long sleeved). We were about to kill and preserve some crickets and everyone was creeped out by the crickets in a plastic bag. Suddenly, I shuddered because I felt something creeping up my arm, and a lizard jumped out from my sleeve.
I found a cricket in my shoe once. It was summer, so I was wearing keds (the little sneakers popular with kids before today’s flip-flops) without socks. I felt something in my shoe, and when I pulled my foot out there were legs stuck between my toes.
My father used to find ‘gifts’ from our cats in his shoes.
Speaking of finding unpleasant things in odd locations though; how does a decomposing lambs foot in bed sound?
Growing up, we always had pets. We also had a small amount of land, which we had a couple of animals on. When one was slaughtered, the pets would make off with what they could. Unbeknown to us, one of our dear little doggies had gotten a lambs foot, and decided to bury it, for later enjoyment. Unfortunately, they’d decided that one of our beds was the place for the burying.
After a couple of months, we noticed an odd smell, but couldn’t place it. We looked through everything, but couldn’t shake anything out. A week or so later, and we were completely stripping the bed, and made the discovery.
Amazing what you learn reading comments. Another poster linked to the Parktown Prawn. It’s amazing because it’s remarkably similar to the Weta of New Zealand. Except, Weta in your shoes are significantly worse, as they have Very strong mandibles, and a bite HURTS.
there was a snake in mt boot once non venomnes thank goodness
@Thatsomethingguy
Heh. I’ve gotten many “presents” from my cats over the years.
Once, a cockroach. Last time I stayed at that particular hotel.
i was a camp councelor one summer and had brought like 3 pairs of shoes with me. one for normal stuff one for horseback riding and one for creekwalking and hiking and stuff. needless to say the ‘normal stuff’ pair hardly ever got used. when i sadly packed up my stuff at the end of the summer i found that pair of shoes with a momma mouse and three kids. they had eaten most of the one shoe and nested in the other one so i left them.
I had a lump in my school shoe as I was walking to the bus stop. Thinking it was a rock, I continued walking the 2-block distance. Then when I shook it out it was a live and angry spider.
