Nice one connman ^^

Beekiller-Johanna, a combination of what you described (day of the holy) and Halloween equals out roughly to the Mexican Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). I want to try one of their sugar skulls...

I've been reading this on and off for a while, but this is my first comment. Somebody (I'm too lazy to scroll up and check who) asked if anyone doesn't know what trick-or-treat is.

Well, here in Finland we don't celebrate Halloween like in America, but we do celebrate around the same time what we call Pyhäinpäivä, which is in English either "Day of the Holy" or "Day of the Saints". It doesn't involve much actual festivity, mostly we just remember our dead and visit their graves to light candles in their memory.
But some people, especially the kids and the young adults who want to jam some extra party to the darkness of the fall, have adopted Halloween as their own holiday and keep costume parties with their friends (and thanks to them we now have yet another extra season when they sell useless low quality crap at high prices).

In Finland kids wander around dressed up as 'trullis', witches, around Easter, handing out willow twigs to people, wishing happy Easter, and asking for candy as a reward for their blessing.
This is a combination of two opposite Easter traditions from older times, dressing up as a witch (cursing) and handing out willow twigs (blessing).

If you want more information on the subject, learn Finnish and read the Finnish Wikipedia article on "pääsiäisnoita" (Easter witch). :)
