#400 - Unique
I really like snow but sometimes it can be scary. Back when I went to school in Michigan I would frequently drive back to Illinois on the weekends. One Sunday night on my drive back I got caught in a snow storm. It built up pretty quick and I was having trouble seeing the road. Then a semi flew past me and everything went white. I hit the breaks and felt the car slide. I sat there for a moment not knowing what to do. Then some headlights appeared but instead of appearing in my rear view mirror they were coming through the passenger side window. I pulled forward and managed to dodge the oncoming car without falling into the ditch. I limped along highway, petrified that another truck would come by and took the first exit I came to. I found a 24 hour grocery store and wandered around inside until the sun came up and the streets were cleared.

I hate it when ever I have to loiter like that. The clerks either take it in turns to ask me every 15 seconds if they can help or they glare at me like i’m going to break or steal something.

incidentally, thats almost equal to the number of inches of snow currently around my car, as it snowed AGAIN. after the huge storm.
sometimes the midwest shows no mercy.
and speaking of losing pets in snow, i have a great (white) paranese that I lose evry time we let her out in the snow.
shes gotten a little older, and a little yellower, but its still like playing where’s waldo for her.

I don’t mind driving in the snow - I’ve got some skillz there. What I DO mind are people whom have no idea what the hell they’re doing when they drive in the snow - they’re a menace to all the rest of us*. So, from all the good snow drivers… Chris: Thank you for being sensible and getting off the highway.
*4-wheel drive does not a skilled driver make. I’ve seen more of those in a ditch than any other kind of vehicle.

yesterday a huge snow storm hit my area (one day later and i would have got a snow day) and i saw someone trying to parellel park but his rear window and lights were still covered in snow.

Congratulations! And I can relate to Biff on this one.. when I was younger we’d keep pillbugs (aka Roly-Polys) as pets.. and then you’d drop it in a group of everyone else’s and hoo boy.. *laughs*

I really like snow for a few weeks. Then I’ve had enough. Sounds like you had quite the frightening ordeal… I’m glad I’ve never been in any sort of crazy trafic incedent of any kind
