#446 - Distracted
Sometimes directions can be unnecessarily complicated and hard to follow. I find that it really helps if I read through all the steps from start to finish before trying to begin the project. There’s nothing worse than getting to page 7 and realize that you made a mistake in step 3 and have to start over again. I’ve been getting very used to the way Ikea makes their instruction books. All pictures and no words. Less is more.

Hilarious! Haha, thats what I’d do!

Wow, Biff must really be limber to saw off the ARM THAT’S HOLDING THE SAW!
February 19th, 2008 at 12:46 am
I’m happy to see Biff in pain.
February 19th, 2008 at 12:52 am
His arm is off o_o
February 19th, 2008 at 1:10 am
What… how, and… what!?
February 19th, 2008 at 1:18 am
Only one thing to say about that: Whoops.
February 19th, 2008 at 1:29 am
It’s a physical impossibility of Benderesque proportions.
February 19th, 2008 at 1:30 am
Hmmm… He sawed off the arm he was sawing with…
Perhaps he’s thinking with portals.
February 19th, 2008 at 1:31 am
I can’t see what he’s building anywhere…he must have defaulted to his arm.
February 19th, 2008 at 1:59 am
I’ve barely ever read instructions, so I’ll just say it’s like that with school, if you give us knowledge, package it in something other than a spiked box with a electrified 3-d maze that you have to make your hand go through to get the knowledge.
February 19th, 2008 at 2:55 am
hand saw…saw hand…
February 19th, 2008 at 3:10 am
dude…. his hand is still gripping the saw. it’s still alive.
oh and bunnyman - lulz.
February 19th, 2008 at 3:32 am
I’m pretty good with instructions for building stuff, I spent a lot of my childhood playing with those lego sets that have instructions. And a hell of a lot of Mousetrap. That game was the best.
February 19th, 2008 at 4:45 am
I’ve heard of biting the hand that feeds you, but……………..!!

Ikea directions - a picture is worth 1000 words
February 19th, 2008 at 8:34 am
Maybe he was sawing in n-dimensional space? Leave it to Biff to forget what frame of reference he was supposed to be using. Oh, and it looks like he sawed off part of his mouth, too…
February 19th, 2008 at 8:52 am
Instructions are only for when
something doesn’t work.
February 19th, 2008 at 9:11 am
That’s why I love putting together stuff from Ikea.
The instructions are designed for illiterate people from other countries, and therefore are near-impossible to screw up. Plus once you’ve done one piece of furniture, the rest just kinda go together like legos.
PLUS NO SAWS!
February 19th, 2008 at 9:58 am
maybe he was sawing with his other hand, but it didn’t want the blame so it planted the saw in the other hand.
February 19th, 2008 at 11:00 am
Y’know, this reminds me of the instructions and warnings in my chainsaw’s owner’s manual:
“Warning - do not stop with hands or genitals.”
February 19th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
Anyone else notice that this comic and the last one have captions that don’t match the standard “Biff learns/discovers/finds/etc.”?
February 19th, 2008 at 6:44 pm
The Duck has not spoken!?
February 21st, 2008 at 3:22 pm
Wait, wait, wait- how did he cut off his arm with the hand holding the saw?!
@ Kitty: I too have noticed the change in captions. Maybe it’s just for this week.
February 21st, 2008 at 7:51 pm
Well he probably had to put the saw down to pick up the instruction book, and needed somewhere to put the saw while he read what he did wrong, and the severed limb seems to be the most handy place.
February 21st, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Maybe the new captions are one of his theme week things?
February 26th, 2008 at 9:39 am
His saw loves him.
February 27th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
Lost in his books, it looks like…
February 28th, 2008 at 6:23 pm
He… he sawed off the arm that was holding the saw. That, or after sawing off the other one, he put the saw into the removed arm to hold while he read the directions.
