#489 - Parched
A few years ago we went and visited friends in New Mexico. The first time I took a shower there I was amazed at how fast their towels dried me off. I barely patted myself down and I was instantly bone dry. When we got together for breakfast I shared my enthusiasm. “You have the best towels in the world! I can’t believe how fast they dried me off. What kind of towels are they?” There was a pause and a small chuckle before they said “Welcome to the desert. There’s nothing special about the towels, the air is just really dry.”

Nice, it seems that biff needs to find a medium between today’s and monday’s comics.

Yep, lived in New Mexico all my life, I usually just air dry over a few minutes, yes just a few minutes (having refrigerated air conditioning and not swamp no doubt helps that along), hair takes about twenty minutes to air dry when my hair is long, about 5 if short. Been thinking about getting a humidifier soon.
And word of note for anyone who lives in the desert (yes, one s, dessert is food
as well, do not try to air dry when on the plains, even down in Texas, it does not work… >.>

I watched The Terminator today, and in the end when they kill Arnold you thought already died two times before he actually did. thas kinda like Biff.
Hey Chris you must have a whole buncha Biffs standing by ready to replace the next.

Ugh, dry skin. Drink lots of water to help in avoiding dry skin.

I’ve had towels that are actually that good… the comment, not the comic that is. Can’t remember what they were made of or what brand, I wasn’t interested in them at that age :). hmm… yet another bathroom catastrophe that has certain military advantages.

I hate climbing out of the shower and having to put clothes on right away because I have to go out. I always feel like I have swamp-a** for hours. That would be so nice to dry off so quickly!
Nice find, Biff.

A towel that powerful is almost scary… Almost…
Think of the efficiency, though… If soap was as slippery as that towel is dry, showering would be much faster too (albeit much more accident-prone)

Chris, you misspelled desert. I don’t think you were welcomed to a dessert, though that would be pretty tasty…

eep!
dessert != desert
(sorry, i had to)

Most towels aren’t absorbant enough
to wipe the smile off my face…
April 18th, 2008 at 2:40 am
Heh!
Biff’s face looks like death valley… Now he’s going to have to shower again to scrub away the dead, flaky skin.

I would have never thought of that Chris, I’d have been in the same boat as you.
Woot! Finally caught up to you! You’ve been a busy comic beaver. I love your Biffness and keep up the good work!

Ok, fixed the spelling of desert.

ChivalryBean’s comment gets me thinking: isn’t it weird how there are some drinks that make you thirsty? Super-absorbent towels I can understand–they’re just doing their job too well. But with alcoholic beverages or coffee, they don’t just fail to quench your thirst, they exacerbate it. That’s weird! Almost as weird as Biff’s adventures in personal hygiene this week.

I’m from Florida… on a good day it takes two towels and a sun bath to get completely dry.
That’s that real reason everyone’s got a good base tan down there… they’re just drying off.

This is a GREAT one, I really laughed a lot, wow.
Great job Chris! Keep up the fantastic comic!

@Mithras - Thanks, it was fun to draw.

This comic reminds me of the new Axe commercial where the guy peels of his skin like old plaster. Weird stuff.
Hilarious comic.

Lived in Colorado for a while, same way there. Then I moved from high altitude desert to low altitude rain forest…. quite the shock. I went to short hair very quickly as I was tired of my hair Never drying when I showered in the morning.

this comic features the shower from two strips ago, and the towels from last strip. fun fun fun?
or maybe chris just couldnt be bothered to redraw anything?
April 19th, 2008 at 7:29 am
Hm. I’ve had the opposite problem, but not THAT…it’d be interesting to see towels that are TOO absorbent.
April 19th, 2008 at 10:12 am
Magic towels. That’s a new one.
April 19th, 2008 at 7:12 pm
i nvr noticed before, but biff has a HUGE forehead…..
it kinda looks like you took a normal head, erased the face and drew biff’s on its chin….
April 20th, 2008 at 2:45 am
Is Biff not the name of the villain in “Back to the Future”
keep up the good work chris!
By the way this is my first post, love the comic, Biff is SO fynny!!
