#495 - Spoiled
It’s not always easy to tell when food has gone bad. Sometimes you don’t realize until you spit out a chunk of mold. Sometimes you don’t realize until the next day when you have to call in sick

That’s… just plain nasty…
Biff looks thickly inked today.
April 28th, 2008 at 12:04 am
I hope that doesn’t have a “bite” to it.
I would like to have a pile of rasberry jam as a pet.
April 28th, 2008 at 12:37 am
That thing looks like it’s trying to kill Biff…You know…Like in “The Blob”…
…
Quick Biff! Stick your head in the freezer!
April 28th, 2008 at 12:53 am
I don’t call it mold, I call it “bonus flavor”.
April 28th, 2008 at 1:04 am
It’s a good thing Biff’s mouth extends to outside the jam.
April 28th, 2008 at 1:23 am
dude… i’d like to be able to grow jam like that…
April 28th, 2008 at 2:42 am
Ewww….
I’ve come across far too much manky food…
April 28th, 2008 at 3:22 am
hmm… half the food around the house is moldy, because we never get around to eating it. Being said, I don’t eat all that much of whatever I find in the pantry/cupboard (that includes fridge). and… someone’s out to get biff? I mean come on, hiding a sensor bomb in a JAR OF JAM? how desperate to kill a man can you get?
April 28th, 2008 at 4:19 am
I’m paranoid about milk now thanks to not paying close enough attention to expiry dates one day. And of course it seems every few weeks the fridge gets cleaned out of the half a dozen mouldy relics hiding at the back.
April 28th, 2008 at 5:24 am
…. Do you WANT to make me throw up?!
The milk I buy tends to go bad before the Sell By date. So I don’t get to drink it often.
April 28th, 2008 at 6:26 am
“There’s only one man who would DARE give me the raspberry…LONESTAR!”
April 28th, 2008 at 7:01 am
Oooh, it exploded…
Hey is there something wrong with the email alerts? The full comic doesn’t load anymore, just the picture and the story. My theory is you want more site traffic, but I thought I should check just in case it’s NOT supposed to be doing that.
Anyway, if I’m right and traffic is the reason, do you think you could stop your little story bit from being in the email, I find it spoils the guessing-at-the-picture fun. My what an over demanding fan I am…
Anyway, Loving all the Biff comics - the april fools joke was quite entertaining to watch, I think I forgot to congratulate you on the overwhelming success of that!

Micah, you beat me to it!
I remember one time, I made myself toasted tomato sandwich on rye. It was really good, but not very filling, so I went to make myself another… and then I noticed the green fuzz on the bread. I spent the rest of the day going, “Am I sick going to get sick? I don’t feel sick, but…”
April 28th, 2008 at 7:56 am
I always look. smell. touch.
then after they kick me off the bus
I go home and eat jam.
April 28th, 2008 at 8:33 am
eeeewwww…”spit out a moldy bit” made me gag. Literally.
Disturbing, disgusting, and awesome, as usual!
April 28th, 2008 at 8:45 am
It’s….exploding food week!!
April 28th, 2008 at 9:11 am
I predict it’s food week period.

My birthday cake last year was chocolate with real strawberry pieces in it. It was really delicious. I only had one slice on my birthday and then I didn’t have any more for about a week or so. I walked in the kitchen and decided to have a slice. Unfortunately it hadn’t been refridgerated, I took a big bite and ended up with delicious chocolate but very rotting strawberries… In a panic I swallowed…
April 28th, 2008 at 10:42 am
…and then you turned into the dreaded STRAWBERRYMONSTERTYPEOBJECTTHATISVERYSCARY!!!!!!!!!!Right? Maybe I should lay of those cookies. Maybe those chocolate chips WEREN’T red AND green. At least, not on purpose.
April 28th, 2008 at 11:48 am
The worst thing I ever ate was a rotten apple. It was very wierd, it had been laying there for weeks, but didn’t rot on the outside. I took a big bite in it and realized it tasted very weird. Then I looked down at the apple and saw that on the inside it was completely hollow and covered in mold. I spat it out insanely quickly.

@Micah; I must despise you now, for having beat me to the joke. Consider yourself fortunate, angusgangus - If not for Micah, it would be YOU that I was despising!
I served on submarines. The food starts out pretty darn good. Then, as the run draws on and on, things start turning… Nasty. First the fresh eggs turn green… Then run out entirely. The choice food items are consumed… Leaving Teh Nastii behind: Snake eggs, frisbos, and powdered eggs.Tthe deli-sized salami and balogna begin to develop a grey-green rind, which slowly works its way in towards the remaining core of edible meat… And yet we eat it still, along with our powdered eggs… From there, things began to get truly vile.

A Haiku:
The jam has gone bad.
Oh poor Biff, his lunch ruined.
No sandwiches now.
Poor Biff.
April 28th, 2008 at 1:24 pm
my friend has squirty cream and he forgot to wash the top out….so he got a mouthful of mould when he squirted it into his mouth……and the worst part is…he didnt realise until he had swallowed and i had told him! *hurk*
April 28th, 2008 at 2:58 pm
That…that looked like a condom! Poor Biff…
April 28th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
“Tonight on FOX: WHEN GOOD JAM GOES BAD!!!”
April 28th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
I ate rotten bologna one time. I didn’t realize until afterwards when my dad pointed out that all the bologna had turned green.
April 28th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
My wife is Vietnamese. She purposely eats rancid food.
Once I opened a container that had been in the ‘fridge and it smelled so bad that I threw it out. Her response when I told her what happened to it was, “That shrimp paste wasn’t even ready yet!”
The horror. The horror.

Has anyone seen a small amount of chocolate over three weeks old out of fridge. I swear to ham it tried to get out of the cup
April 28th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
We’re really good about mold in this house. We all have built in *food sensors* that tell us in advance when food is going bad, except for my dad.
Anyways, if we suspect something is old, we look, smell, ask someone else, then confirm yes or no. If I’m not sure I just put it back in the fridge for someone else to deal with.
The exception to the rule is cheese. Seeing as cheese is mold, any extra mold is just cut off and there is perfectly good cheese underneath.
April 28th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
@the Scarf: I do that with the cheese too! I thought I was the only one. My family and friends think it’s disgusting.
April 28th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
Moldy food untouched,
But dog soap I nigh consumed
Shall not try again.
Haiku number two!
April 28th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
Don’t hate me because you don’t get up early for Biff!
April 29th, 2008 at 9:40 am
It does look like the Blob! Quick, get Steve McQueen and a fire extinguisher.
If your a fan of the Blob check out Blob Fest this summer in Phoenixville and get a chance to run out of the theatre screaming. http://www.thecolonialtheatre.com

The Scarf @ That may explain my seemingly reasonless dislike of cheese. o_o
