#530 - Escalate
When you are in a bad mood there are some things that can only make it worse. Everything annoying has the annoyance level amplified. These are the situations where someone sitting next to you tapping a pencil has to fear for their personal safety.

I totally relate to this one today…
June 16th, 2008 at 12:20 am
Dear god is Biff being…. *cue horror music* normal?
June 16th, 2008 at 12:24 am
I am kind of disappointed in the normality of it I rely am I mean June 16 having a bland biff comic. My birthday is off to a dull start.
June 16th, 2008 at 12:36 am
Word to the wise: The same goes for school.
Half of all my detentions/suspensions in school came from being in a bad mood that morning
June 16th, 2008 at 12:45 am
Amen Draco, Amen.
June 16th, 2008 at 1:07 am
It must be hard thinking of biff comics, as proved by this one.
June 16th, 2008 at 1:08 am
Sorry for the double post, but biff is sitting in the chair from that one comic! which one was it again?
June 16th, 2008 at 1:09 am

HERE IT IS!
June 16th, 2008 at 1:16 am
But wait, there’s more!
June 16th, 2008 at 1:23 am
goddammit, trevor’s right! I recognise that chair…
Chris, you’re right about the annoyance amplification. Also, there’s nothing an annoyed person hates more than a cheerful person.
June 16th, 2008 at 1:31 am
At least he wasn’t bothered by his computer’s security system. That might make things helluva worse.
June 16th, 2008 at 1:51 am
draco speaks trueisms… that’s happened to me as well, and it wasn’t helped by schoolmates who assumed they were better than me
June 16th, 2008 at 1:51 am
Ah yes, Biff’s chair of MADNESS. I love how, despite this comic’s odd nature, it’s almost a storyline.
June 16th, 2008 at 2:34 am
To all the ‘not so good’ sayers, he’s making this 5x a week with 1 panel for the joke, with related text, and often a real life relation to the comic.
Not every one will be drop dead funny.
That said, this one does hold a lot of relevance to anyone who’s been in that kinda position. I’d kinda expect to see it on one of those desk-top calendars. ^^
That said, the line “These are the situations where someone sitting next to you tapping a pencil has to fear for their personal safety.” could have been a Biff comic on it’s own! So many images in my head for it.
June 16th, 2008 at 2:44 am
Far too close to reality, maybe Biff should take a swig of some special kool-aid to liven things up.
June 16th, 2008 at 2:55 am
well, no need for floccinaucinihilipilification…
June 16th, 2008 at 7:03 am
Hey, it’s ok if someone doesn’t like one of the comics. I’ll just do another one tomorrow.
June 16th, 2008 at 7:04 am
This one is more true than funny at first. However if you go through and think about all the previous comics and imagine all the things he has to do just to get to work, while in a bad mood no less, it does get to be rather funny. waking up, being strangled by his toster, making it past the lava filled living room, getting into his invisible blue car, working his chair, getting past his security system, and even worse he arrived today to discover the iceburg he had installed had finally melted away so he would have to get up and go to the water cooler to get water.
I mean these are just a small fraction of the problems he has to go through in a singal day. By the way anyone who goes through the entire arcive and lists everything he has to put up with in a single day just to get to work will get a cookie
June 16th, 2008 at 8:07 am
Wasn’t it a GREEN invisible car?
June 16th, 2008 at 8:27 am
Oh, amen! Honto des! Forsooth, even!
And few things will PUT me in a bad mood/make me grouchy faster than someone asking, “Oh, are we feeling a little grouchy today?”
“Well, I *wasn’t* until you asked!”
June 16th, 2008 at 8:39 am
Huh.
Biff is having my morning.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:42 am
There SHOULD be a strip where Biff stabs someone in the head with a tappity pencil.
Oh wait.
That’s not Biff, that’s me.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:47 am
So true. Try being in a bad mood when you live in a family of 7. EVERYONE DOES SOMETHING TO ANNOY YOU.
June 16th, 2008 at 10:14 am
Man, today’s comic is sort of a downer. I prefer it when Biff’s misfortunes are surreally misfortunate…
June 16th, 2008 at 10:45 am
This is a joke that hardly needs illustration; it’s more like a one-liner, really. Entertaining, but not what I’m used to seeing from Biff.
June 16th, 2008 at 11:32 am
I don’t get it
June 16th, 2008 at 12:18 pm
Family of six here. And I /hate/ pencil-tappers. I actually punched someone for that. Needless to say, I was having a /really/ bad day.
June 16th, 2008 at 2:42 pm
Certainly never has for me…
Diana- Nah, the green one got burned up by a rocket during Space Week.
June 16th, 2008 at 3:49 pm
The only reason I don’t find this funny is because it is way.too.accurate
I’m only a month into the “real world” of white-collar-jobness, but already this comic is just too true.
June 16th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
well at least he didn’t have to feed the Gungerlock in F-J today so he can’t be in a really bad mood and it probably didn’t bite him as he passed either!
June 16th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
Wow, Biffs not doing anything that might harm/injure/mutilate him horribly? Oh my, what has come over our misfortunate hero!?!??!
June 17th, 2008 at 12:32 am
I work as a race horse rider/trainer/dealer/seller lady… and trust me, working from 3am till 8pm with horses that are convinced that they should bite you, kick you, stand on you, slober on you, sneeze on you, headbutt you, bolt on you, and dance around while you’re trying to saddle them, really doesn’t improve my mood.
I feel Biff’s pain.
June 17th, 2008 at 2:32 am
Only thing worse could be going angry to the work you hate…
June 17th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
@Gato I have a family of seven… eight recently. I am/was the middle child. My family would actually try to cheer me up. I introduced my girlfriend to them and she was stunned about how nice they were. My mum was apparently the nicest person she’d ever met. I have a good family
(not wishing to rub it in anyone’s face)
June 17th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
That’s definitely my day.
June 18th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
That’s been my whole week so far. Turns out we are no longer allowed to take an afternoon off and make it up a different day. I can still do it, I just get a bad mark and no pay for the time I make up. Not only that, they’re trying to make me change my schedule to work every weekend, and if I don’t comply I get a pay cut. I’m currently looking for new employment.
June 26th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
hmmm…his eyebrows seem…straighter than normal.
July 19th, 2008 at 2:55 pm
I need this one printed on a calendar, a poster, a t-shirt, a sweat-shirt and a jacket, as well as several buttons and a mug. This can be my mantra now. This is my LIFE. Perfect. This is perfect. I like it. Can you fill my order? I have (checks balance) 39 cents in my checking account. Think that will cover it?
I LOVE MY LIFE I LOVE MY LIFE I DON’T WANT TO EAT A PISTOL I LOVE MY LIFE I LOVE MY LIFE I DON’T WANT TO EAT A PISTOL … I’ll just keep telling myself this as I sit and look at my 39 cents … *sigh*
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:31 am
wow, has no one caught “old items in new comics” week?
