#729 – Retention

Sometimes it seems so crazy when I think back to all of the things that I worked really hard to learn about and how I now don’t remember any of it. There are many subjects that I learned about just so I could take a test to prove that I memorized a bunch of stuff. Since they didn’t keep testing me on it once a week I lost it all. I’m sure a lot of it is stored somewhere in my brain but those file cabinets are rusted shut.

So it is Steven Spielberg and midterm week. This would be AI.

  2. Speakerblast

What would on classify as an “advanced liquid”?

  3. Signum

    Maby it’s parts of school

  4. EliteRock

I’m sure biff will come up with somekind of interesting soultion

  5. greenimp

well im going with micah on this one

  6. Space Butler

Ah…this comic gave a real sense of conclusion and satisfaction to Biff’s intense week of schoolwork. It also serves as a reminder that all our efforts our futile and that we should just relax.

  7. Shorty

I’m a Math major, I know exactly how Biff feels.

  8. Torg

I’m just impressed that he could smuggle lab equipment in his skull for an entire semester before it broke.

  9. SEA

Nope, i cannot remember all i learn back then too >_<

  10. The Dukenator

The only thing I remember was how much trouble I was in, but can’t remember what I learned

OH, thank you. I’m not the only one. I’m just now trying memorize the formulas for Geometery. I hate Geometery… I’m sitting her thinking….why will I have to know how to find the area of a triangle thats inside a square?

  12. jahg

Ha! I love it. I’m wondering what device in there needs the electrical cable dangling out the back. Also, I think it’s time we had The Book of Biff #4, what do you say?

  13. Grug

I’m so taking “Advanced Liquids and Tubes” next year.

I recently dug out my old college notes while cleaning. As I read through the advanced formulas, graphs and circuit diagrams, I sadly realized just how smart I used to be. Now they are just pretty pictures that represent a once imaginative mind that has since been corrupted by celebrity news, porn and fast food.

    LOL @ Paul

Ppl still think I’m brainy cause I still carry a book everywhere. I wonder what they’d REALLY think if they knew it’s nothing other than romance and scifi-adventure? :D My regret is that I’ve forgotten how to code by hand. I try it now and go blank…

“How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain.” – Homer Simpson

I can remember most things to do with computers, English, some parts of history, any game I’ve played obsessively (haven’t played Spyro in six years…picked up a controller last night at a friend’s place and breezed through the whole game in four hours) or anything I’m writing. Still can’t remember how to do trigonometry, and I have to have a sheet of formulae in front of me to handle area and volume/capacity.

  18. Crimson1regret

Being a music major, I can’t push anything out, even if I wanted to. >_<

  19. RPharazon

I can’t remember the Sine or Cosine laws anymore.
Well, I know the entire a/cos(a) = b/cos(b) bit, but I can’t remember how to get them into usable form. Something like (cos(a)*b)/cosec(a) = b or something odd like that.

  20. -2!

I remember the sciences and maths really well… maybe that is why i am going to U for physics, anything else just slips out of my mind as if it was a civ with a hole in it.

  21. Linzleh

Higher ed is touted as a necessity, yet if we can’t remember what we learned what good is it! Biff’s modifications seem to be, “in, out and all about…”

  22. Founder

We don’t actually forget anything. Its just the neural paths to the information weaken, so it’s hard to access. That’s why its so much easier to relearn something.

  23. ZackDark

i have a knack for remembering stuff i learn
the problem is actually learning stuff
    lol

  24. -2!

    @RPharazon
    thas the sine law a/sin(B)=b/sin(B)
and the useable form is a=bsin(B)/sin(B) or A=arcsin(sin(B)a/b)

    cosine law is a^2 = b^2 + c^2 – 2bccos(A)

^2 being squared and arcsin is aslo know as sin^-1

  25. Letsfoolgravity

To be honest, I never even tried to retain the information from any of my courses. At least not long-term. I just wanted the grades so I crammed, took the test and forgot. The things I’ve actually wanted to remember came from leisurely reading and playing music. Or shopping.

It’s especially hard to remember to use periods.
