Why a remote control? Surely this would be built in functionality or at least a usb upgrade dongle.

I already stream my TV series and podcasts in faster than realtime. As long as I don't exceed the threshold where everyone's voice runs together, I stop noticing that it's playing quickly at all. I usually run between 50 and 75% faster than realtime.

It helps to have platforms where you can watch at any arbitrary speed however. That's the downside to netflix, hulu, and Amazon streaming. They're stuck at 1.0x when I really want to be watching at 1.5x or 1.75x.

I imagine singularity future humans might be streaming many, many times that and still perceiving it as if it were real-time.

Well, the Entertainment of he time would just be variations of VR techniques. You could go see the latest version of the Bay TransFormers films for example, but view it from the perspective of one of the main characters. Either it would jump from one to another, depending on what might be the more important POV in a scene, or you could choose which Autobot or Decepticon to see with. Pick wisely, otherwise if you were seeing it from Jazz's optics, you might end up missing the end of the movie.

OK, sure, some things would probably get better if we could transfer our brains/our consciousness into robots or computers, but... I would miss being able to eat real food and candy! And I like to sleep! I would also still prefer to watch real concerts instead of getting them streamed into my brain in some way, but I just came to think of something that would be awesome to see...

Robot Kerry King. Yeah, just imagine... Slayer as robots!

Actually the real question would be whether or not WE would exist in realtime anymore. It's highly unlikely that beings able to transfer consciousness into a computer would chose to remain time-limited.

By that I mean that we would be able to process information at billions of times the rate that our organic minds are able to.

That actually poses an interesting question. If we could watch TV and movies that quickly, how would the creation of those things be affected? Especially if they're live action. And if they are live action, is it easy to tell robots apart? Would we care? Hmmmmmmm.
