The most recent time I slept through my alarm I dreamt that the sound was actually a timer going off in the kitchen. “I wonder what the are cooking down there? It sure sounds like it’s ready. They sure are taking their time. I hope it doesn’t burn.”

I have the opposite problem. I dream that I slept though my alarm, causing me to wake up several times thinking it’s very late when it’s really still quite early.
I don’t use any alarm now, but I have no idea how I managed to sleep through both mom’s and dad’s alarms when I was a little kid, especially dad’s alarm, since his alarm clock had a radio function. He made it sound like the most terrible noise machine ever by choosing what was “between” two radio channels on purpose.
I’m quite sure I wouldn’t be able to sleep through that kind of noise now, because for some reason I’m quite easily surprised by sudden loud noises.
My weirdest dreams come when I’m semiconscious.
I have an alarm, which I usually hear. More importantly, I have four cats, which hear the alarm and KNOW that it is time for them to be fed.
If I do not rise promptly, there will be yowling, and scratching of posts, and (eventually) the breaking of my personal belongings.
I rise promptly. Sometimes I fall back asleep after I feed them, but by Dog, I rise promptly!
You mean by Cat.
One of those really rare strips in which Biff is shown with another living thing in the same panel….(mind you, he is dreaming…)
If I don’t get up, my kitty makes it increasingly clear to get moving until I do. Because she’s hungry, dangnabbit.
My stereo has a clock with an alarm setting, it comes on at 8:00. I wake somewhat, not quite at full capacity yet, but just in case I drift back out, a second alarm clock, in the shape of the Batmobile from Batman Forever, goes off at 8:26. If I have to get up any earlier, there’s also other things with an alarm to set, like my cell phone, DS, DSi with Photo Clock (if you have a really annoying sound recorded on it, you can choose that for your wake up), or someone calling the house phone at some ungodly hour.
When I was a child, I often had a dream about being at a zoo. My alarm was a security system that I could shut off if I could find the right arcade game style button to press. Now my alarm wakes me up immediately.
I once dreamed cell phone’s low-battery noise was coming from an artificial heart, and the beeping meant it was about to break down and kill me.
I’ve yet to have my phone incorporate itself into a dream, I keep it under my pillow and it scares me awake. But the actual alarm clock… It’s set to “ocean noise” and progessively gets louder until I wake up or someone comes in and hits me with it. There’s been many times I started to dream about weird whooshing water noises.
Sometimes I can set my clock for like 7:45am, and wake up every minute to see 7:46, 7:47, 7:48, etc etc, my college classes are starting soon an….oh, it’s only 7:50, I can sleep off for about 2 more hours and rush things if I need to, zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
