Most bibliophiles can't be bothered to get out of their comfychair to dance though...

I need to stop replying to posts with just a single word. I have trouble getting out of my comfy chair to go to bed, although that's partially because you guys are so distracting.

Yes, but awhile ago I stayed up really late on the forums, and when I blamed him he said it was my own fault. (which it was, but still...)

Latin is the best. After I finish my training, I will be an unstoppable language-learning MACHINE.
I did four days of Latin (there was another day, but that was just a 'field trip' to an old Roman fort. Pfft, I went to learn the language, not about the architecture), two years of French and I'm in my fourth year of German. I also did five days of Japanese, along with a good few lunchtimes of Japanese Club (hooray for sushi at the end ^^) and I find most of my Japanese on the internets.

Most of the people I know are taking French. Of course, we revenge upon them with paper wads in my English class, cause I have the best English teacher EVER.

Nuh-uh! You don't have Mr. Peterson...

I know lots of latin roots, and then I sing lots of classical music, so I know some more religious words...

heh...no. That would be silly...specially because I'm an atheist...

it is fun to take words apart in their roots though...and it helps during science classes.

It does, yes. But with the most fun scientific name ever, you need no help of the sort!

I would post it on here, but the forum only allows posts with a maximum of 20,000 characters.

I get the feeling that guy was screwing with us.

ANYWAY, I was referring to the scientific name of the lowland gorilla. Are you ready for this? It is:
gorilla gorilla gorilla
I kid you not.

From the link I posted, or Sil's 'Gorilla gorilla gorilla'?
The really long word is also known as...

Titin.
Bit anticlimactic, huh?

What about the ever-popular "Which paper towel is stronger?" experiment? Or, of course, the old standby, mold?

Too many of the word bits repeat...

That's because there are lots of repeats of functional groups, and there position in the word indicates their position in the molecule. F'rinstance:

The molecule 1-methyl, 3-methyl, 5-methyl 5-hexene would look like:

 |  |  |  |  |
-C-C-C-C-C=C
 |  |  |  |  |
-C-  -C-  -C-
 |     |     |

Legitimate molecule, really repetitive name.

Well! That must be pleasant to work with! The more I work with science, the more I dislike it. Which is sad, seeing as I actually love science...

I hate the number crunching bits....
