That's awesome, June  How painful was it, on a scale of 1 to "OH SWEET MOTHER OF BIFF!"? I feels a lot like a bad sunburn now. During the tattooing, the pain level got worse as it went. At the beginning, I was about to put on headphones really loud and it almost felt good at times (but I've always enjoyed curtain kinds of pain, so that may be unique to me) with the occasional area of pain like right along the shoulder-blade. Near the end, I had to take off my head phones and talk to my mom because the pain was always pain. Mom says that it was similar for her, only she would call the beginning tolerable rather then pleasurable. |

 That sounds horribly painful. The slapping, not the commissioned are. It is. It is what you do if you are a tough motherfucker. Or, at least, if you want to come off as a tough motherfucker. I think I know what you mean, June, with the part of the pain that feels good, and doing a tattoo right along your shoulder blade would certainly hurt like a bitch. I have seen a lot more people recently with neck tattoos. It looks cool, but it always depends on what you get. I've always planned on getting a tattoo or two but being able to sit still that long, even with a cigarette break, would be a big issue with me. |

Ewww nicotine. Smoking is disgusting! My boyfriend does that in our bedroom.  At least, smoking cigs is disgusting. There's other, less than legal (only a misdemeanor in mass!) things that I do smoke. Or vaporize. Or ingest. >_> |

I was just about to say that. There aren't a lot of legal drugs that would calm you. Alcohol is a sedative, but also drops inhibitions and thins the blood, so that would not work well for getting tattooed. Beyond that, Tobacco, at least the stuff they put in commercial cigarettes, is highly addictive, deadly over prolonged use, and not a very good choice for a one time shot of an hour or three of tolerable pain.

The only thing I could think of were muscle relaxants or, obviously, painkillers. I'm sure anti-anxietals (I MADE THAT UP STFU) would work too. Don't think other, less legal substances would, though. I know if I did it high(marijuana), I'd probably have an anxiety attack... |

I don't think Pot would give you an anxiety attack if you got a tattoo on it (unless you were scared of neadles), what I think it would be is either lessen the pain to next to nothing, or intensify it to torture. |
